It was a very refreshing feeling as the boy found himself being sent into The World R:3. It was totally different then from what his friends had told him. That had been two years ago, after that, the game shut down, and it'd already been up for three months since then, and Haruto Suzumaki had finally found time to actually get out the controller and play. The brown haired boy landed softly on the ground, but, not being use to the game, he felt a little off-balanced. Shaking his head to clear the dizziness. He looked up and was amazed at what he saw, everything seemed to life-like. Having played games for a while when he was younger, he remembered how to move. He clamped his hands together happily as he headed to the portal. Hoping to get somewhere, but before he got far, he stopped. So, maybe reading the manual would've been a good idea, he had no idea where to go. He sighed as he sat down on a brown, wooden bench. Putting his head in his hands, now what was he suppose to do? He didn't want to log out already, it'd be to much of a hassle to log out then log back in again.
[The beginnings kinda crappy, but oh well] [/blockquote]

A girl comes over and sees the boy who is sitting on the bench. The macabre dancer, Monomi, is intrigued by Haruto since his character design looks somewhat like her older brother in real life. She is about to go greet him, but just as she gets close, she stops. 2 mean-looking, large characters come up behind Haruto with sinister grins on their faces. Monomi does not know what to do. And so, she yells out Haruto's name.
(P.S. I'm horrible at coming up with stories. XP)

[It's okay =D You'll get better in time]
Haruto looked up as he heard someone call his name. He sees a girl who he supposes is the one who called his name. She seemed to be trying to tell him something. Tilting his head to the side, he tries to figure out what she is trying to tell him. When, suddenly, a dark shadow overlaps him. Curiosity quickly overcomes him as he turns his head to see who is standing behind him. Quickly leaping up from the brown bench just as the Blademaster slashes his blade into the bench. "Picking a fight in the middle of town, that's really bold." Haruto's words were strong, but in reality his was completely terrified. He grabbed his two blades and held them up, ready to fight. The boy with the blade didn't respond except with a smirk as he slashed his silver sword at Haruto. The newbie barely managed to block the attack with his own blade. He wasn't going to be strong enough to battle them himself. So the boy quickly threw his own dagger tossing the blade of the attacker to the side before turning around and dashing into the group of onlookers. "Ah, come on, why do they want me?" The boy whined helplessly as he dashed by the girl who had called his name. [/blockquote]

Monomi watched as the burly character fought Haruto. However, something else had caught her eye: the bladmaster's partner, another twin blade, was messing with something mysterious. Monomi saw a blur of color around where the twin blade's hand was. He was obviously tampering with something. "What's going on?" she thought. She wanted to go see what was happening with the twin blade, but she also saw Haruto struggling with the blademaster, and Haruto was losing life points quickly. She looked back and forth, trying to decide what to do. She instead threw her fan at the blademaster but missed by a long shot. But as her fan flew, she dashed towards the mysterious twin blade. She hoped that her fan caught Haruto's attention.

Haruto froze as the fan narrowly avoided hitting him. He realized that the target, though, wasn't originally him, but one of the attackers. He turned his head as he spotted the girl, but there was no time to stop. He grabbed her hand and said "No comment, just hurry. They'll want you now too." With those words he took off down one of the alleyways. Quickly turning into one of the smaller pathways. The two kids, not seeing their victims run down the path, kept running straight. Not even near seeing Haruto and Monomi hiding in the shadow. Listening carefully to make sure they were gone, Haruto finally let out a breath of relief. "Thank God we weren't caught. That sure gave me a scare."

Monomi stared blankly at Haruto since everything had happened so fast. Once she gathered all her thoughts, she glared at him. "I was trying to get your attention not trying to seriously hit the guy." Her face was all pouty now. "There was something weird with that one guy, the twin blade. The images around his hand seemed like they were unstable, like there was some kind of glitch in the programing. And I wanted to figure out what it was!" Monomi then sighed. She calmed herself down since she needed to be thankful to the boy for saving her. "Anyways, thanks." She put a smile on her face and then sent a party invitation to this random boy that she had met.

Haruto shook his head afterwards. "It's really okay, you don't need to be sorry, no one was harmed." He suddenly stopped speaking, accepting the party invitation with a look of deep thought on his face. He just stood there for another second before saying. "But, I wonder. Why were they after me of all people. Who just joined today." He tilted his head the side as he continued to think, but, finally, he spoke once more, "Well, I guess it's no use wondering, I'll probably never see them again, so come on. I want to do some training, obviously you seem to know what you're doing, so you should be able to help me find my way." He smiled happily as he headed towards the entrance of the alleyway and peeked out slightly looking both ways before telling Monomi. Suddenly, his head jolted straight as he thought of something. "So...you're name is Monomi...right?"

Monomi stared at the boy and came to one single conclusion: the boy was an idiot, obviously ignoring all of her suspicions and rambling on about stuff she knew wouldn't help them get any further in The World. Her temper was rising. "Did you not her anything of what I was saying before?! Did you not hear that I thought that something was wrong with those guys?! Don't just stand there! Let's go find them. Something about them bugs me." She glared at Haruto once more. but then calmed down. Her rampage was done. "Anyways, yeah, I'm Monomi and you're Haruto. Now, come on. I wanna find those guys. I remember their usernames and so maybe we can ask around. I mean really, don't you want to find out what was with them? Maybe something's special about your character."[/b] For the most part, Monomi was incredibly curious and loved mysteries. Once she set her mind on something like this, she wouldn't stop until she got to the bottom of it. "You can think about training later. Something definitely wrong with those guys, and I want to fiqure out what it is." She looked to Haruto for agreement.[/size]

Haruto was taken aback by the course words that the girl spoke to him. So, he did it again, got totally side-tracked, but, he guessed the Monomi was probably right, but what could they do while they were so weak. He didn't know about the level of the other girl, but he was only level one. What happened if they ran into a strong monster, or more trouble like those PKers. "But, I really need to train, it's not going to do us any good if we encounter a strong monster while I'm at the level I'm at." He sighed as he looked into the eyes of the other girl. Expecting another comment like the one she had just made. [/blockquote]

"Well...." Monomi pondered the thought for a while. She too was at level 1, almost at 2. She never had any trouble geting around for the time that she played, though. "Okay, how about this. We'll go train a bit... at least until you're at level 7 or something. While we're at it, I'll search around the BBS (*I think it was Bulletin Boards in the story anyway XP). I'll see whether I can get some info from other players... But it is really strange... why do I have such a bad feeling about what I saw. It could probably just be a bug but...." Monomi trailed off.... she didn't know what had gotten into her. Something was very mysterious about this boy that she had met. She studied him a bit. She looked at his character, be he didn't seem to have anything special equipped to him. His character design didn't look all that extraordinary, either. "Hmm... hey Hakuto, do you have anything special in your items?"

Haruto listened quietly as Monomi spoke. She was probably right, it was probably just...some sort of bug, nothing of much importance. His thoughts quickly changed though as she trailed off in her speech. Obviously, Monomi had some other thoughts that she wasn't quite yet speaking. He stood awkwardly as she looked his character up and down. Wondering what she was looking for. When she asked him if he had received any special items he replied, "Well, I kinda just joined, so I haven't been anywhere yet. Which means...I don't really have any items." What was with this question, he really didn't understand, but he needed to know where he could do some training. "Hey, before you go, where's a good place for me to start training?" [/blockquote]

Monomi was deep in thought, somewhat listening and somewhat ignoring. Hmm... she thought. If he doesn't have any special items, then what could they possibly want from him? Later, once Haruto asked his last question, she kind of came back to reality. "Oh! Uh... a training spot? Why don't we go try Manifest, Holy, Backfields (*I just made that up)? It's supposed to have really simple level 1 creatures. Maybe we can raise our levels a bit there, and then move on to something harder later. That was her automatic answer.... she still pondered the information she had. But she decided that she could do that later. "Okay then, let's go train."

[Well there are some areas right beneath the guild board that are all actual areas in .Hack// (lol, I was thinking about this last night of what kind of item I'd get him, took me a while but I finally figured it out XD)
Wee...I'm adding a new twist to the story XD Sorry...if it's kinda boring XD Woah...I didn't realize how long that was until I finished XD]
In-Game Haruto nodded in agreement. As he listened to what Monomi was saying, suddenly he froze, "Oh, hang on just one second, my phone is ringing."
Off-Line Haruto took off the visor and set down the controller as he headed for the phone, he picked it up as he was greeted by a worried voice, "Haruto?" The voice spoke. "Yes, this is Haruto. Who is calling?" "It's Mrs. Saito. Suki's mother. Has anyone called you about Suki yet?" "Uh...no, what happened?" Suki was one of Haruto's friends, a girl in his class. They had been friends for quite a while now. "She's in the hospital." Haruto almost missed the final words that the the woman spoke, but when he did here them, his voice cracked. "Wha- What happened?" He expected an answer like, she suddenly got ill or she fell and broke her leg. Something like that, but he wasn't prepared for what he did hear. "No one knows, I found her unconscious in front of the computer screen. She seemed to be playing...what was it...that World game. She was unconscious and still hasn't woken up since" "The...The World R:3?!?!" Haruto's voice was louder than it needed to be, but he couldn't seem to calm it. "That's probably it, I just wanted to tell you. Well I've got to go now. I'll call you and tell you how she is later." "Oh, okay, bye Mrs. Saito." Haruto sent down the phone, and it was only then that he realized how much he was shaking. Suki had been playing the game for longer than he had. But he had no clue how this could have happened. Suddenly his eyes lit up. Maybe this was what Monomi had been talking about, a glitch, maybe? Was this how that had happened. He sat back down at the computer and placed the visor over this head once more, he'd just keep this a secret until he really needed to let out the news.
In-Game Haruto's character was quickly released from his frozen position as he picked up the controller "Sorry for being away so long, but I'm back now, so, yeah, let's go train there, we should at least get to a somewhat higher level so if anything happens we have just a little chance ." He hoped that Monomi didn't see the slight look of despair in his eyes before he shook his head, clearing his thoughts before smiling at the girl before turning his head to watch where he was going as he stepped out of the alleyway. Heading towards the portal that lay across the bridge.

[Ah oh well.... let's just go with my random choice of words... I remember reading in .hack//Another Birth that any 3 words from a certain list of words would create an area. XP Oh yea, I'm creating a twist in the story, too. Actually, I'm gonna go modify one of the posts to say the Haruto's character reminded her of her older brother rather than her friend... it's a minor change, but it's part of my plot.]
As Haruto was on the phone, Monomi stared blankly at Haruto's motionless character. Monomi could actually hear murmuring through Haruto's headset microphone, although she could not make out the words. Haruto had a loud voice in her opinion.
As Haruto came back from his phone call, he resumed his conversation where he left off. Monomi decided to just let Haruto do all the talking and leadng rather than herself. She walked along with him to the portal when suddenly, her home phone rang, too. "Hehe. My phone's going off, too, now. I'll be right back."
Off-Line Monomi took off her headset and ran over to the next room to answer her phone since neither her parents nor her brother were home from work (her brother had a part time job). "Hello, this is the Yagi residence. May I ask who's calling?" "Ah, Monomi. Hello, this is Mrs. Saito. Is your brother home?" Mrs. Saito, Kenji, Monomi's brother's, friend's mom [Gah confusing sentence]. His friend, Suki, called often, so Monomi knew who this was. "I'm sorry. Kenji is still at work. Would you like to leave a message?" "Oh um, yes. Actually, something happened to Suki, and I think that Kenji would like to know. Can you tell him to call once he gets home?" Something happened to Suki? This didn't seem good. "Oh uh.. sure. Mmhmm... good day to you, too, Mrs. Saito... Goodbye."
Monomi hung up the phone and stood there wondering what had happened. Maybe it was something dire seeing how Suki's mother wanted her brother to call back right when he got home. She thought about calling her brother, but she didn't want to leave Haruto hanging for too long. She decided to go back to The World.
In-Game Monomi popped back to life on the screen. Haruto stood there facing her. "I'm back." She looked to Haruto and smiled, hoping that the smile would cover the true meaning of the phone call she had just answered.

[awesome =D Lol, I JUST read that since I got the first .Hack//Another Birth book today XD] Haruto chuckled a little as she said that she, too, had a phone call. He put his finger up to his lip as if thinking as he wondered about the phone call he, himself, had received just moments earlier. He wondered what could have happened to Suki, he hung out with her a lot, because she was a good friend of his. He continued to fumble over this thoughts until Monomi returned to the screen. "Well, I guess it's time to go. So come on" He smiled slightly as he felt himself being transported from town, to the area that Monomi had suggested. It was a fairly small area, there didn't seem to be much at this place. But Haruto could see a couple of spinning things. Magic Portals, or something like that, was what they were called. He couldn't remember. But he did know that monsters came from these things. "Alright! Come on now." He charged towards the nearest one as he watched a small monster appear. He didn't want to fight it alone, not yet, so he waited for Monomi to come and help him. [/blockquote]
